Dr. April D. Jones

    My Story

My name is Dr. April D. Jones, and I am honored to share my journey. I hold a Doctorate in Education and bring more than two decades of experience in government administration, social services, and community-based work. Throughout my career, I have focused on designing systems and programs that support people, learning, and meaningful outcomes.

My professional background as an educator includes extensive work with students with special needs, which deepened my understanding of diverse learning styles, cognitive development, and the importance of instructional clarity. This experience continues to shape how I approach curriculum design—centering accessibility, intentional structure, and confidence-building for both learners and educators.

While I am no longer in a traditional classroom setting, my commitment to teaching and early learning remains central to my work. I believe that strong educational foundations are built through thoughtful design, supportive systems, and environments where children feel safe, seen, and capable.

Today, this journey comes together through The Learning Zone, where I design joyful, equity-centered math curriculum and support meaningful learning experiences for children, teachers, and schools. I am grateful for the opportunity to do work that reflects both my professional experience and my enduring passion for education.
